Creativity Group – First Meeting at Loré – Tuesday, 6th October 2026

On Tuesday 6 October, the Creativity Group had its very first meeting at Loré – and what a lovely start it was!

We were warmly welcomed by Jackie, with a table laden with cakes, biscuits and refreshments waiting for us. In the main room, there was also a wonderful collection of books covering all sorts of creative subjects, giving us plenty of inspiration to browse through.

We began by introducing ourselves and naturally started sharing what we hoped to get from the group, the projects we were working on and, of course, the projects we had somehow managed to get stuck on!

Jackie explained that everything was there for us to explore. We were free to look through the books, open the drawers and rummage around to see what we could find. She showed us what she had collected and where things were kept, and encouraged us to have a good look around.

It wasn’t long before we were drawn, rather like a group of magpies, towards all the ‘pretty things’! We naturally gravitated towards beads, broken jewellery, shells and other little treasures. Before long, some of us were creating spiral bracelets and necklaces, while others experimented with different shells, beads and colours and came up with the idea of making a beautiful wall hanging.

The time simply flew by. There was lots of laughter, plenty of sharing of ideas and a wonderfully warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere. People helped each other, offered suggestions and admired what others were creating. It was also a lovely opportunity to slow down, switch off from everyday life and simply connect with one another.

We were even encouraged to explore the garden and take a break for lunch – but we were so engrossed in what we were doing that most of us simply carried on! Before we knew it, there was more tea, more cake and the realisation that it was time to leave.

We were all rather reluctant to go, but at least we had our new creations to take home with us – little treasures that we had made ourselves and, perhaps, the beginning of some new creative projects.

A very special thank you to Jackie for her generosity, enthusiasm and for sharing her wonderful collection of materials, books, ideas and creative inspiration with us. Her welcoming and open approach made it so easy for everyone to get involved and simply see where their creativity took them.

What a lovely first meeting – and we are already looking forward to seeing what treasures, ideas and projects emerge next time!
