Guided Tour of the Bay Around Mont Saint-Michel

A Description of the Day:

You are invited to join us for a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy.

The visit will allow you to explore the Mont itself before embarking on a guided walk around the shoreline at the base of the Mont.

Originally, this outing was to feature a guided walk across the bay, but we have had to change our plans. However, this new walk, around the base of the Mont, is suitable for all, including children. The walk will last for approximately 2¼ hours.

You will need to bring your own packed-lunch with you or visit one of the local restaurants, of which there are many.

EuroMayenne members will enjoy a reduced ticket price for the walk and a subsidy towards the cost of parking.

Timetable

12.00 p.m. ● Meet at the main car park for Mont Saint-Michel. ● Please note that car-parking charges will apply. ● Free buses run between the car park and Mont Saint-Michel (approx. 3km).

3.40 p.m. ● Meet at the ‘Fanils’ entrance (also known as the gendarmerie entrance), which is the entrance 50m to the left of the main entrance.

4.00 p.m. ● Start of the guided tour of the bay around Mont Saint-Michel. ● The guided tour lasts for approximately 2¼ hours.

Lunch Arrangements

Please bring your own packed-lunch with you or feel free to visit one of the many restaurants near the main car park or on Mont Saint-Michel itself.

VERY IMPORTANT: What to bring with you

• Please plan to walk in bare feet and wear shorts or Bermuda shorts to cross the small streams in the bay.
• Please bring a backpack for your personal belongings (shoes, towel, drinking water, money, mobile phones, etc.).
• Please bring suitable clothing with you, depending on the weather on the day. Items to consider include:
  • Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, etc.).
  • Warm and/or waterproof clothing, depending on the weather.
  • In any case, a good windbreaker is recommended.

* Per car; a receipt will be required as proof of payment.

Please note: The cost of parking a standard car for the day (up to 24 hours) is around 22.00 €. So, if four people share a car, the cost of parking per person is only 5.50 € for the day. Therefore, it is recommended that members and their guests car-share wherever possible.
