July 2015 – visit to Le Mans

Join us for a day in the old  – mediæval ! – centre of

Le Mans

on Saturday 11 July

Three activities are planned –

  • a ride round the tourist attractions on the little street train 
  • then lunch 
  • then a visit to a museum

(Please let Clare, who is organising this outing, know if you would prefer to join us for just one or two of these, rather than all three.)

 

10:50 Meet at the departure point of the Little Train in Place Jet d’Eau down a few steps from the cathedral. There is a car park here (and a bar). Click this link to see what it looks like (and click on the arrow in the black box at the top left of the photo to see the map.)

11:00 Ride on The Little Train through the narrow streets of the Plantagenet City with a commentary in English. Lasts 40 minutes.

12:30 Lunch  at ” Restaurant Aux Cocottes Sarthoises ” in the square overlooking the town hall, at 10 Place Saint-Pierre.

They offer a nice two course menu for €17.90

 

2:30 Visit to the Queen Bérengère Museum. (Le Musée Reine Bérengère)

 

Cost / person

Train ride  €  5.50 (children <12, €4.00)

Lunch       €17.90 (children <12, €12.00)

Museum   €  3.00 (children <18, free)

Total        €26.40 per adult (plus any drinks with lunch)
