2026 JANUARY – Visit to ‘Le Quarante’ Cultural Centre and ‘Le Zoom’ Science Museum
Visit to ‘Le Quarante’ and ‘Le Zoom’ in Laval
Saturday, 24th January 2026

A Day in Laval: Culture and Gastronomy:
- First, we have visited ‘Le Quarante’, the city’s new iconic cultural centre, where art and culture come together.
- Stéphane ILLAND, head of the City of Laval’s Heritage Department, took us on a special heritage tour entitled ‘From Crédit Foncier to Le Quarante’.
- He explained how this site, which was originally occupied by Crédit Foncier, a major French bank, had been renovated by architect Jean-Pierre Pranlas-Descours to become a cultural centre (music, singing, dance, visual arts, media library, etc.) in 2022.
- The transformation of this former industrial building into a contemporary cultural space has been praised for its design and integration into the urban landscape.
- Next, we headed to the ‘Petit Périgord’ in the historic old town, a restaurant renowned for its traditional cuisine and delicious dishes.
- In the afternoon, we continued our outing at the ‘Zoom’, Laval’s Science Museum, where we visited the ‘Comets’ exhibition.
- This exhibition invited visitors to explore the world of comets, their formation, their impact on our planet, and their place in the collective imagination.
- Activities and screenings enriched the experience, making the visit both fun and educational.
A successful outing!
