2025 SEPTEMBER – Aux Grenier et Jardins du Turet
VISIT TO AUX GRENIER ET JARDINS DU TURET
Champfrémont (53370),
Producers of aromatic plants, perennials and dried flowers.
Saturday 27th September 2025

Our Day at Le Turet, Champfrémont
- After a delicious lunch at ‘L’Ardoise de St Pierre’ in St Pierre des Nids, we had the pleasure of visiting the company ‘Aux Greniers et Jardins du Turet’ near Champfremont. Accompanied by Mr David Cholet and his mother Carmen, we discovered a whole new world of flowers.
- First, we visited the drying lofts where we could see different types of flowers being used (immortelles, zinnias and various grasses that will serve as the basis for the many dried bouquets that we will soon admire).
- Next, Mr CHOLET guided us through the various production gardens that are his pride and joy. He even showed us a greenhouse and a very well-maintained vegetable garden, which he cultivates alongside his flowers and which also take up a lot of his time.
- Finally, we ended our visit at the shop, where friendly Halloween witches with hooked fingers rub shoulders with a multitude of bouquets and other naturally colourful arrangements. Of course, all these wonderful objects have sprung from the fairy fingers of Carmen, who has turned her art into a true passion. There is something for everyone, and it’s very tempting!

A description of the day:
- For a start we shall meet for lunch at the restaurant « L’Ardoise de Saint-Pierre » at SAINT-PIERRE DES NIDS.
- The town is located on the edge of the BAS MAINE region and the ALENCON countryside, between the Alpes Mancelles and the Mont des Avaloirs. Set in a magnificent natural, almost mountainous environment, it can be considered the gateway to the Alpes Mancelles, which correspond to the rugged terrain of northwestern Sarthe (72) and extend into and even spill over into the neighbouring departments of Orne (61) and Mayenne (53).
- Next, in the afternoon we will head to CHAMPFREMONT in northern Mayenne, and more specifically to LE TURET, where horticulturist Mr David CHOLET, assisted by his mother Carmen, grows flowers that he then sells dried. He will give us a tour of his estate, “Les Jardins du Turet,” and show us the 25 to 30 varieties of flowers and grasses that bring him so much joy. We will have the pleasure of visiting the field, the drying rooms, and the workshop.
